This policy applies to all visitors, users, and prospective advertising partners who interact with the Site.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in compliance with the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL), and in alignment with internationally recognised data protection standards.

What Personal Data We Collect

We collect personal data that you voluntarily provide to us, as well as data that is collected automatically when you use the Site.

  • Full name

  • Business email address
  • Phone number
  • Product interests
  • Estimated budget range
  • Message or campaign brief content

Data Collected Automatically

When you browse the Site, we automatically collect certain technical and usage data through cookies and similar technologies:

Data From Third-Party Analytics and Marketing Tools

We deploy analytics and marketing measurement tags through Google Tag Manager (a container service operated by Google LLC). Google Tag Manager itself does not collect personal data, but it is used to load the following third-party services, which may collect data about your visit:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — visitor and behaviour analytics.
  • Google Ads & Floodlight — conversion measurement and remarketing.
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook / Instagram) — conversion measurement and audience building for Meta advertising.
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag — conversion measurement and audience building for LinkedIn advertising.
  • TikTok Pixel — conversion measurement and audience building for TikTok advertising.

The data collected by these services may include:

  • Aggregated and pseudonymised usage data
  • Demographic and interest-based insights
  • Conversion and campaign performance data
  • Persistent and session-based cookie identifiers

The specific set of tags active at any time may be added, removed, or updated by Gulf News through the Google Tag Manager container without changes to this Site’s code. The list above represents the categories we may use.

How We Use Your Personal Data

We use the personal data we collect for the following purposes:

  • Responding to your enquiries: Processing and responding to submissions.
  • Lead management: Routing enquiries to appropriate sales team members.
  • Communication: Sending confirmations and occasional updates.
  • Site improvement: Analysing aggregated usage patterns.
  • Performance measurement: Tracking effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • Security and fraud prevention: Detecting and preventing spam and abuse.
  • Legal compliance: Fulfilling our legal obligations under applicable UAE law.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UAE PDPL, we process your personal data based on one or more of the following legal grounds:

  • Consent: When you submit the contact form or click the WhatsApp button.
  • Legitimate interest: Managing leads and analysing Site usage to improve services.
  • Legal obligation: Necessary compliance with UAE laws.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience, measure Site performance, and support our marketing activities.

Essential Cookies: Necessary for the Site to function correctly. These cannot be disabled.

Analytics Cookies: Set by Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors discover and use the Site. GA4 uses pseudonymous identifiers and short-form IP processing.

Marketing & Advertising Cookies: Set by Meta Pixel, Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight Tag, TikTok Pixel and other marketing tags loaded via Google Tag Manager. These cookies allow us to measure the effectiveness of campaigns, build audiences for retargeting on those platforms, and attribute enquiries to the marketing activity that drove them. These tags currently load when you visit the Site; you can prevent them from running by using your browser’s cookie controls, tracking-prevention features, or platform-level opt-outs (see below).

Opting out: You can opt out of personalised advertising through the providers’ own controls: Google Analytics opt-out, Google Ads Settings, Meta Ad Preferences, LinkedIn Ad Settings, and TikTok Cookie Settings.

How We Share Your Personal Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We may share your personal data with:

  • Internal Gulf News teams (sales, marketing, legal, IT) on a need-to-know basis.
  • Service providers that process data on our behalf, including hosting (Google Cloud), email delivery (Netcore), and form processing (Zoho).
  • Analytics and advertising platforms that operate the tags loaded via Google Tag Manager — currently Google (Analytics, Ads, Tag Manager), Meta Platforms, LinkedIn, and TikTok. These platforms act as independent data controllers for the data they collect through their tags and are governed by their own privacy policies.
  • Legal and regulatory authorities where required by applicable law.

How We Protect Your Personal Data

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures including encryption (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and rate limiting to protect your data.

How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Contact form submissions: Up to 24 months.
  • Analytics data (GA4): Pseudonymised event data is retained for up to 14 months in accordance with Google Analytics settings.
  • Advertising platform data (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Google Ads): Retention is governed by each platform’s own retention policies, which we do not control.

Your Rights

Under the UAE PDPL, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object or withdraw consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at feedback@gulfnews.com.
